Penna's Princess Pointers
If you're anything like me, you are out there buying the most glamorous perfume possible, and this can get quite expensive. So, I've come up with a few tips to share with you on how a 'Perfect Princess' is supposed to Properly Store her Perfumes!
As I said before, perfume can be very expensive, so it makes sense to store it properly. Fine perfume from all of the top perfume houses will keep for years if you follow a few simple Princess rules. Try buying parfum over perfumes, as they are a more exquisite value.
Remember the three enemies of good perfume: sunlight, heat and air. These natural Earth elements actually dry out and dull your favorite fragrance. So, try to store your parfums in a cool, dark area. I prefer a parfum chest, or the like. Keep in mind, Princesses, that we can never have enemies.
Step2
Store the perfume in a tightly stoppered bottled to keep air from evaporating the scent. What you can do is purchase a stopper and a special glass bottle from your favorite parfum house. Or, just remember that just like anything else, your parfums will evaporate. Just get more when the time comes, or just wait for your next special event.
Step3
Keep the top of the bottle clean. Wipe it with alcohol and let it dry before replacing the stopper. I know that we can become 'lazy Princesses', but the best time to clean your parfums is right after you use them while you have the energy to.
Step4
Put the bottle of perfume out of direct sunlight. A dark drawer is not necessary, but may prolong the scent of your perfume even longer. Yes, like I explained in Step 1, this is very important. Why? Because the day of your next soiree, you don't want to get caught up in having to deal with an expired fragrance.
Step5
Keep the perfume away from any sources of heat. ALL heat, meaning windows with direct sunlight, furnaces, showers ... The best thing I would recommend is buying yourself a parfum chest with either velvet or satin lining.
Many fine perfumes come in bottles that are either frosted or made of opaque glass. Just leave them in the original bottle and be sure to put the stopper in tightly. As tempting as it is, don’t display that pretty bottle of perfume on your dresser top. The constant exposure to light and heat will speed up the deterioration of the scent.
